The Black Keys Block Michael Jackson's 'Xscape' From #1 on Billboard Top 200
Bad news for Michael Jackson fans. Despite a big tribute at the iHeartRadio Awards, and a much-hyped hologram performance the Billboard Music Awards, Michael Jackson's second posthumous album 'Xscape' has failed to reach the #1 on the Billboard Top 200 (USA). L.A Reid must be terribly disappointed. For this was a personal project of him.
It was The Black Keys' new album 'Turn Blue' the one reigning over the Billboard album chart this week (May 21st). 'Turn Blue' grabbed the top position after selling 164,000 copies in its first week vs. the 157,000 Michael Jackson's 'Xscape' managed to shift, making it debut at #2. Only 7k copies of difference!!
With the lead 'Xscape' single, 'Love Never Felt So Good' currently on its way down both on radio and the Hot 100 (now at #22), it all points out that 'Xscape' will suffer of a major sales decline in its second week. Will it be able to hold on in the Top 10?
This is sad because the only moment 'Xscape' had to truly shine and pull in great headlines was during its debut week. And it has failed. Well, fans have failed MJ.
