World Premiere! Major Lazer ft. Nicki Minaj & PARTYNEXTDOOR - "Run Up": Full Audio + Review
Will this be Major Lazer’s super smash hit of 2017? They’ve had in the last two years one super hit each time. In 2015 was “Lean On”, and last year was “Cold Water”. Will “Run Up” be the one for 2017?
The latest single from the somewhat-delayed “Music Is The Weapon” album (should be out later this year, though) premiered on Spotify today and it will be available for purchase on iTunes starting tomorrow Friday. The song, produced by Major Lazer (duh), is a collaboration with Canada’s PARTYNEXTDOOR and Nicki Minaj.
These two sing and rap over a dancehall beat in this one.
REVIEW: Unfortunately the song hasn't really stuck with me. And I don’t think "Run Up" will be a “mega hit” for Major Lazer just for the fact that there’s too much PARTYNEXTDOOR and little Nicki Minaj. How come Queen Onika only got the bridge? That’s messed up. Thank you for the new Nicki verse, Major Lazer, but shame on you for “wasting” this new Nicki with a song where she doesn’t get to shine.
