World Premiere: Gwen Stefani - "Make Me Like You" [Full Audio + Review]
Bop alert? I think so! Ms. Gwen Stefani dropped on Thursday midnight (Feb. 11) her new single “Make Me Like You” and I am liking it very much – to the point I’m literally obsessed with it and I can’t stop replaying it.
The song is the follow-up single to “Used To Love You” and it will be part of Gwen’s upcoming third solo album, “This Is What the Truth Feels Like”, due out in stores on March 18th - ten years after “The Sweet Escape” (about damn time, huh?). More to “Make Me Like You”: The music video will be premiering during a Grammy commercial break next Monday (Feb. 15) and it will be a “live music video”.
If “Baby Don’t Lie” (the scrapped lead single from Gwen’s third album) disappointed many, I think that with “Make Me Like You” Gwen will find redeeming. The song is fresh, it’s summery, it’s pop and rock, it’s catchy, it sounds very Gwen style, AND… picture this: if The Cardigans had recorded “Lovefool” in 2016, it would be Gwen’s “Make Me Like You”! This song is giving me serious “Lovefool”, in a more upbeat version, vibes – and that ain’t a bad thing, right?
So happy about Gwen. She’s finally gotten her “mojo” back. She’s writing and recording good songs again. Although this might sound terrible, her break up with husband Gavin Rossdale worked out great for her. She’s now single and ready to mingle and she’s obtained a ton of great inspiration to write relatable songs again.
I am LIVING for “Make Me Like You”, y'all. Despite it being a kind of a pessimistic song “Why'd you have to go and make me like you? / Yeah this is a feeling I'm not used to / Why'd you have to go and make me like you? / I'm so mad at you cause now you got me missing you”, sings Gwen in the chorus (basically she’s mad a this guy for making her fall in love with him when she was already feeling fine being alone Now this new guys is leaving her (either this or he’s out of home plenty of hours during the day). Oh well, she disguises this sort of pessimistic feeling very well with these upbeat vibes and uplifting melodies.
Welcome back, Ms. Stefani.
