World Premiere: Gavin DeGraw - "She Sets The City On Fire" [Full Audio + Review]
Gavin DeGraw returned to the music scene by surprise today, July 15th, with the release of brand new music. And I’m not talking about a random one-off single for the summer, this right here is the official lead single from Gavin’s forthcoming much-anticipated fifth studio album! FINALLY!
Titled “She Sets The City On Fire”, Gavin’s new single will be part of a new studio album of the New York native called “Something Worth Saving", which he and RCA Records will release on September 9th. May I remind you that Mr. DeGraw’s last studio work was “Make A Move” three long years ago!
Written by Gavin DeGraw and Gregg Wattenberg and produced by Gregg Wattenberg, “She Sets The City On Fire” is a very catchy pop/rock jam. It’s very anthemic, shout-y, and sing-along-y too. And do you know what else it is? Very Maroon 5! I mean, is it just me or does Gavin sound a lot like Adam Levine in this song? I truly thought for a second I was listening to a Maroon 5 song by mistake!
Anyhow, I really digging this new single - about a hot girl who just dazzles and slays wherever she goes, but unfortunately some hardcore, lifetime fans of Gavin DeGraw are not pleased with his sudden turn to “too commercial” music.
Read what an upset fan wrote on YouTube:
I need Gavin, a sensitive story and a piano. My all time favorites are Waterfall and Dancing' Shoes. This doesn't sound like those songs at all. I get that he kinda wants to flow with what's "in", but he didn't have to do that in my opinion. He was one of the more unique artists, and I would hate to see him get lost in this kind of music.?
Oh. I get. But doesn’t Gavin have the right to try new things? I mean, if for some reason this flops, which I doubt, then he will learn from his mistakes and stick to his original sound. No biggie. But I’m personally loving this poppier sound from him. It will definitely finally put Gavin on the race to get a number one in the US and possibly cracking overseas markets!
