Watch Melanie Martinez' Halloween-Ready Music Video for "Carousel"
Melanie Martinez just premiered the eerie music video for her newest single “Carousel” (the 2012 ‘The Voice’ contestant signed a deal with Atlantic Records earlier this year). Produced by Kinetics & One Love, the dark-gypsy song is the theme music of the fourth season of FX's "American Horror Story: Freak Show" series. No wonder why “Carousel” was picked by FX. The melody of the song is really “spooky”. The message of the song isn’t that spooky, though. It’s sad actually. Melanie compares in the lyrics the search of true love to a carousel. “Round and round like horse on a carousel / We go, will I catch up to love?, I can never tell”, sings M.M in the chorus.
It seems like she DID NOT catch up to love, unfortunately. At last that’s why I get from watching the official “Carousel” visual that premiered last night (Oct. 15) on VEVO. Directed by Adam Donald, the clip shows the quirky Melanie Martinez chasing a hunky blond guy through a very a scary fair at night time. The two “alleged” lovebirds walk to a carousel, where Melanie will sit on a horse and will be deceived by the man she’s attracted to. He will tie her up to the horse, and abandon her. Poor Melanie! But good song, though! Atlantic better take care of Melanie's talent. I am loving her "Dollhouse" EP and I feel she'll even more full-throttle on her upcoming full-length debut.
