Watch Celine Dion’s Tragic Cover Of Adele’s “Hello” At NYE Concert In Las Vegas!
I didn’t think I would live to see the day Celine Dion gave a bad performance. I’m shocked to my very core.
The Canadian diva performed a super special New Year’s Eve concert on December 31st, 2015 in Las Vegas, and as expected, she performed a handful of covers, although one of them was particularly surprising. She hadn’t covered Adele in a long time – remember her cover of “Rolling in the Deep” from back in the day? – and seemingly she thought New Year’s Eve 2015/2016 was the right day to do it again. What Adele song she covered? Are you for real? Of course Celine had to sing “Hello”.
Wearing a beautiful metallic, sparkly dress, Celine commenced singing “Hello” – the first hit from “25” – and what I expected to be an amazing performance turned into a really scary nightmare. I felt so embarrassed for Celine. Poor soul.
Nobody in this whole world can question Celine’s singing ability, but there are definitely songs that don’t adapt well to her vocal style, and unfortunately the surprise song she performed in this New Year’s Eve concert, “Hello” by Adele, is one of them. It was literal torture hearing Celine sing this live. Not that her vocals were unpretty - how can they be, right? - but it’s just that “Hello” didn't/doesn’t suit her at all, and also this was torture because I know for sure there were people in the crowd that night talking crap about the Canadian diva and giving her death stares for this performance, and that makes my heart hurt. But the truth is the truth, Celine’s version of "Hello" was simply unlistenable, and not to mention her bad timings in the verses too. “Hello” just can’t be sung so nasally. Sorry Queen. You’re still a legend, though!
