Watch Bastille's Fun & Creepy "Torn Apart" Music Video
Awesome! If you’re smart you don’t need a huge budget to make a clever music video. Right, Bastille? The English rock band, led by Dan Smith, premiered on Friday AM (Nov. 21) the music video for “Torn Apart”, the first single from Bastille’s new mixtape “VS. (Other People’s Heartache p III)”, out digitally on November 30.
“Love is love”, “You can love whoever you want”. Those are the motto lines of the “Torn Apart” video. It’s simple, but it’s clever. Using Michael Jackson’s “face chance” effect from his “Black or White” music video, Bastille’s “Torn Apart” visual opens with a young adult couple flawlessly performing a contemporary dance routine at their house. Then, suddenly, they “turn” into other people and the changes keep up till the very end of the video when the last “transformation” is the couple from the beginning again. The “subsequent” couples are non-professional dancing couples, but random people put together to show that love can happen everywhere, to people of different social backgrounds or ethnics.
It was very fun watching a few of the pairings! Have to say though…the creepy “monster” couple was of my liking. It was too creepy. And WTF at that “three penises” and “vagina” scene? Ew. So unnecessary! It was all very fun until that happened.
