The 2019 Grammy Awards took place on Sunday, February 10th, live from the Staples Center in Los Angeles. R&B singer Alicia Keys hosted.
Who won the big awards of the night? Childish Gambino won “Record of the Year” and “Song of the Year” with “This Is America”, Kacey Musgraves won “Album of the Year” with “Golden Hour”, Dua Lipa won “Best New Artist”, Lady Gaga won “Best Pop Solo Performance” with “Joanne”, Ariana Grande won “Best Pop Vocal Album” with “Sweetener”, and Cardi B won “Best Rap Album” with “Invasion of Privacy”.
My thoughts: So happy for Childish, so happy for Gaga and so surprised by Cardi B’s win. “Invasion of Privacy” was my personal favorite for “Best Rap Album” but I really thought the Grammy guys were going to give the award to Mac Miller. They even asked Mac’s parents to attend the event – and they did. Everybody, including me, thought this meant the award was Mac’s 100% sure.
