VIDEO: Coldplay - 2016 Super Bowl Halftime Performance [Ft. Beyonce & Bruno Mars] [Full]
British rock band Coldplay headlined the halftime show of the Super Bowl 50 - which saw the Carolina Panthers go head to head with the Denver Broncos – at the Levi's Stadium in Santa Clara, California on Sunday night (Feb. 7).
The Chris Martin-led band was accompanied on stage by R&B queen Beyoncé (headliner of the Super Bowl halftime show in 2013) and “Uptown Funk” singer Bruno Mars (headliner of the Super Bowl halftime show in 2014).
Were these guests really necessary? Was it Coldplay’s idea to invite them? Or was it the NFL’s call because they feared Codplay’s set would be perceived as “too boring” and they felt that they needed to invite a couple of “upbeat-showstopper” guests to inject some energy to the crowd in the stadium and viewers at home? Whosever idea it was, I couldn’t have been happier to see Bey slaying a stadium on television again – but I did feel a bit bad for Coldplay, for Beyoncé stole their thunder last night a bit.

Setlist-wise, Coldplay performed a handful of their most popular songs, including "Viva La Vida", "Paradise", "Adventure of a Lifetime", and "Up & Up," Beyoncé performed her new song “Formation” (see the music video here), and Bruno Mars performed of course his "Uptown Funk".
UPDATE: What a disappointing halftime show from Coldplay. I mean, they are good, but they didn't live up to the hype of a Super Bowl Halftime performer. The true headliners should've been Beyoncé and Bruno. All of the excitement I got from this year's halftime show was because of their parts.
