Unexpected: Selena Gomez’ “Same Old Love” Gets A Fetty Wap Remix… (Too Late?) [Listen]
What the F is this Selena? Didn’t you just release “Hands to Myself” as your new single from “Revival”? This is just going to confuse fans!
So today, January 7th, we got the scoop that Selena Gomez is gearing up to send a remix of “Same Old Love” featuring Fetty Wap to Rhythmic radio in the US. How did I find out about it? Blame it on PlayIGA.com, a website owned and managed by Interscope Records (Selena’s label) whole sole aim is to promote upcoming radio releases. They are not only responsible for leaking this information to the public before Selena did it on her social media accounts but they also leaked the entire audio of the remix! You can go and stream it on PlayIGA.com right now for free.
Is this Fetty Wap-assisted urban remix for “Same Old Love” a good move? I mean, I don’t mind Fetty Wap’s rapping at all. “Same Old Love” is still good with or without him. And I do think this remix is clever in the sense it definitely has the capability to make Selena’s hit song reach higher audience but this too darn late. “Same Old Love” is already on its way down and radios (Top 40 at least) are already doing what Interscope commanded; to start promoting “Hands to Myself”. Bad (and late) move by Interscope if you ask me. I just hope this remix getting sent to radio next week doesn’t mean we’ll have to wait a month or so to see Selena start performing “Hands to Myself” on TV. Because believe me, I am a fan of “Same Old Love” but I’m already tired of it. And not even Fetty Wap’s dope flow-filled remix is going to get me to enjoy “Same Old Love” the way I used to a couple of months ago again.
Hit or Miss?
