This Is The Remix! Camila Cabello’s “Consequences” Now Has An Orchestra Sound: Song Premiere
I don’t mind Camila Cabello releasing “Consequences” as the next and final single from her solo debut album – I love the song – but I’m not sure how necessary was this brand new “orchestra” version. I mean, I do hear the new instruments and they sound pretty and make the song sound a little more “epic” if you will, but I feel like the original, piano-only version was perfection already and it made Camila express more vulnerability, which essentially is the big seller of the song, but she decided to make this decision and I respect it. She wanted “Consequences” to have an orchestra and she’s done that. The final product is still pretty, this new version will be the one sent to radios, this version will be the one featured in the official music video (premiering on Wednesday) and this new version will be the one Camila performs tonight at the 2018 American Music Awards. So, yes, you can expect to see a big orchestra behind Camila tonight.

I forgot how much I love the lyrics of this song. “Loving you was young, and wild, and free / Loving you was cool, and hot, and sweet / Loving you was sunshine, safe and sound / A steady place to let down my defenses / But loving you had consequences / Hesitation, awkward conversation / Running on low expectation / Every sign that I was ignoring / I'm paying for it”. That chorus is as real as life gets.
