Taylor Swift Covers Vance Joy’s "Riptide" on BBC "Live Lounge"

Taylor Swift is in Europe promoting her latest monster hit “Shake It Off”. After France (where she performed on "Le Grand Journal"), Harry Styles' ex is now in London doing UK promo for the “1989” lead single. Taylor stopped by BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge" this Thursday midday (Oct. 9) to perform a two-song acoustic set.

The first song she sang on the Fearne Cotton-hosted radio show was of course “Shake It Off” which I must say sounds a bit different in its “acoustic” version. Taylor’s vocals sound super fragile and thin here and not at all “strong” and “confident” as they do in the studio edit. But the back-up singers, and the live instruments (trumpets!) really made this a very energetic and puts-you-in-a-good-mood performance anyway.

Next up, Taylor performed her mandatory “mystery cover”. What song did she cover? Well, it was Vance Joy’s “Riptide”. Taylor mentioned on the “Live Lounge" that “Riptide” is one of her favourite songs released this year (but wasn’t this released last year?). Wrong or not, Tay-Tay's cover was just BEAUTIFUL. And how nice was listening to this song from a girl's perspective too? So nice! Taylor and piano can make so much magic. Wasn’t really wowed by "Shake It Off”, but this just slayed me.

Taylor Swift’s fifth and first pop album “1989” is out everywhere on October 27.
