Song Premiere: The Chainsmokers Hope “Who Do You Love” With 5 Seconds Of Summer Is The Hit That Takes Them Back To The Top Of The Charts… And It May Be!
The Chainsmokers and Australian band 5 Seconds of Summer have just released their collaboration, “Who Do You Love”. This is the first new music from The Chainsmokers after their “Sick Boy” album and 5 Seconds of Summer’s first new music since the “Youngblood” album. Who needs who in this collaboration? A few years ago I would have said 5 Seconds of Summer needed The Chainsmokers to get a huge hit but now tables have turned. 5SOS had a mega hit in the U.S (Top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100) not long ago with their “Youngblood” single and in the case of The Chainsmokers they haven’t been on the higher positions of the Billboard Hot 100 since 2017. All of the singles from “Sick Boy” flopped. But clearly they are not giving up just yet (good for them), for they refuse to fall into oblivion and that’s the reason why of this unexpected 5 Seconds of Summer collaboration. Will this their last shot at redemption, though? And I mean, you can already se how they’ve lost the leading power in negotiations. Look at the title of this song. It’s not “feat. 5 Seconds of Summer”. It’s “with 5 Seconds of Summer” or "and 5 Seconds of Summer" on digital platforms. A very important detail!
With respect to “Who Do You Love”, I must say I like it. I prefer the verses over the chorus, though, but overall this sounds like a good single that seems to be have everything it takes to be a radio hit. Over a rock, EDM, acoustic production, the 5SOS vocalists sing of the lost of trust in a girl who’s giving clear signals that she has been unfaithful with another man. DRA-MA!
My new favorite word is: “conspicuous”.
