Song Premiere: Mary Lambert Opens Up In "Heart On My Sleeve"
A new Mary Lambert song is available for stream. The Capitol Records artist just uploaded on her VEVO account another track from her upcoming debut album “Heart On My Sleeve” (two weeks ago we heard "When You Sleep") and this time it's the title track. There's only a month and half left (October 14) till Macklemore's friend drops her first album with Capitol and her label is to release audio videos of a few tracks online in order to keep the buzz for Mary’s album high. Who am I to say no to hearing new songs before album release? Thank you Capitol for these gifts!
“Heart On My Sleeve” title track review
Mary is really opening her heart in this debut album of hers. She's not only going to help people feeling like society outcasts or depressed about their weight to overcome their situations with her empowering lyrics (“Secrets”), Mary’s also going to give support and confidence in the future to those worried about coming out as gay or lesbian to their family or are in conflict with their homosexuality. You have to know and accept who you are. Your future can be as great as any one else’s.
The newly-released song “Heart On My Sleeve” hears Mary talking about her discovering her sexuality and embracing it. “’Cause I'm not sure who I was before / But the day I saw you, I sure adore you”, sings Mary Lambert in the first verse, before affirming in the chorus; “Got my heart on my sleeve / You're the one, I gotta have”. The song clearly speaks of Mary falling in love – maybe for the first time – and that person being a woman just like her. Mary will unleash her perfect vocals and her sentiments over a laidback pop-rock production.
