Song Premiere: Austin Mahone’s “Why Don’t We” Will Surely Work In Japan But... In The USA?
Let’s talk about Austin Mahone. It’s not new news that the career in the U.S of this young pop singer hasn’t been much successful but where he has achieved massive popularity, and where I understand is where, these days, he gets his biggest incomes from, is in Japan. Austin Mahone travels a lot to Japan and I must assume this new song that just got released on digital platforms is a new single that he plans to exclusively promote over there? I just checked out this Twitter and Instagram account, though, and right now, as I write this article, Austin hasn’t publicly addressed this new song titled “Why Don’t We” yet. However, in a very recent Instagram Story I see Austin has just returned from Japan to the U.S. And “Why Don’t We” gets released yesterday? I’m a bit lost. If this was another Japan-exclusive single an the song just got released, wouldn’t the most logic strategy be that Austin remained in Tokyo doing promotion? Or is it that he has the intention of promoting “Why Don’t We” in the U.S too? If that’s the case, I would strongly recommend Austin and his label to desist. That would effort would be all in vain. The song is a little bit mediocre although somewhat enjoyable but undoubtedly it is something that would horribly flop in the U.S. “Why Don’t We” sounds dated, like from the 90s, it’s too bland and corny, and the lyrics couldn’t be more cliché (“Tell me baby can you, baby can you / Give me one good reason why you don't give this a try?"). Come on, Austin, leave the poor girl alone. Don’t pressure her.

Does anybody else hear a little bit of Charlie Puth in Austin Mahone’s voice in this song?
Speaking of Charlie Puth, maybe this could be a way in which Austin’s career gets revived in the U.S. Perhaps what he needs is to be a collaborator on the new single of a big artist? Do you think he still has a relevant friendship in the industry?
