Solo Lauren Jauregui Is Here, Premieres Debut Single “Expectations”: Listen Now!
Vocals, honey. VO-CALS!
Lauren Jauregui officially released today (Oct. 24) her debut solo single: “Expectations”. This was one of the songs the Cuban-American singer debuted live earlier this year while opening for Halsey in Latin America. “Expectations” was ultimately picked, most likely because of cascade of positives reviews from fans, to serve as Lauren’s official first single as a soloist. Was that the best decision? I mean, I’m a big fan of “Expectations” so I’m going to say yes. I loved the live version of “Expectations” and I am loving the studio version too. I experienced the same goosebumps listening to the studio edit as when I watch the live performance of “Expectations” on YouTube. This is such a great ballad full of amazing vocals from Lauren (ah-amazing) and with a beautiful kind of jazzy almost production.
“Wish I had no expectations / I wish that I could get it through your head / With no confrontation / I really wish we could talk about it instead / All these tears that I cry while I'm turned to the side / And you're in the same fucking bed”, sings an angry Lauren Jauregui in the chorus of her new single. The lyrics of speak of a disappointed and frustrated woman who sees her love interest doesn’t reciprocate with the same level of attention and affection.
You know what "Expectations" needs to properly become a hit, right? Lauren needs to perform it on a big TV show and slay with vocals that will have everyone watching shook.
