Single Review: Nick Jonas - "Remember I Told You" / *Audio Stream Included
Nick Jonas is ready to start promoting his fourth solo album (and only a year after “Last Year Was Complicated” was released). The “Jonas Brothers” hottie released today a brand new single called “Remember I Told You” featuring Anne-Marie and “I Took A Pill In Ibiza” star Mike Posner.
“Remember I Told You” is that same song he previewed a couple of weeks ago on his Snapchat. It’s just that at that time we knew the song as “Looking For Love”.
“Remember I told you, I need you / All of the words that I'm saying / Are just a fancy way of saying I care”, sings Nick on the chorus of his new song, a song about heartbreak and a song about a former flame that you thought was the right person for you.
“Remember I Told You” is very electronic-R&B and very neo soul. It’s quite sultry and hot and definitely screams “growth”. However, my problem is that I just can’t see this being a big hit for Nick. Don’t think it has a great replay value and it sounds like a song you’d want to skip on the radio. Maybe a shirtless music video can change some minds? Just saying… Nick needs “doubters” to really connect to this song somehow! But didn't you think Mike's bridge was really cool, by the way? Would’ve liked to hear more of it. He could actually build a whole new version of “Remember I Told You” from that bridge. My favorite part hands down!
So... I'm thinking maybe Nick should've kept this song as just an album song. It may be a good "shows evolution" product but as lead single? I don't get those vibes from it.
