Sam Hunt Drops New Song “Drinkin’ Too Much”, Aka. An Apology To His "Montevallo" Muse: Listen
Country singer Sam Hunt premiered on New Year's Day a brand new song titled "Drinkin' Too Much" via his SoundCloud account, but wait a minute before you get too excited.. "Drinkin' Too Much" is not the lead single from hunky Sam Hunt's much-anticipated "Montevallo" (2014) follow-up album but just a buzz song he felt he needed to release publicly at this precise moment. Why? Because "Drinkin' Too Much" revolves around Sam's on and off relationship with Hannah Lee Fowler, who was his muse for many of the songs on "Montevallo" and to whom Sam is now officially ENGAGED, according to People.com. So hell yeah he needed to premiere this new song which is an apology song to Hannah at this very moment. "I'm sorry I named the album Montevallo. I'm sorry people know your name now, and strangers hit you up on social media", Hunt sings in a talk-sing style. "I know you want your privacy and you got nothing to say to me, but I wish you'd let me pay off your student loans with these songs you gave me". And near the end of the song, Mr. Sam Hunt name drops Hannah: "You changed your number and moved and this is the only way I can reach you / Hannah Lee, I’m on my way to you.”
Awwww, so romantic!
I'm sure Hannah NEEDED this song before making it super official, aka. accept to marry him. "Montevallo" didn't bring her too much joy but surely she's feeling much better now with "Drinkin' Too Much" and the big diamond ring I'm sure she's gotten!
Congratulations to both!
FYI: Sam's second studio album is expected to come out at some point in 2017.
