Rita Ora Drops New Single “Poison” and It’s ‘Blah’, 2002-Sounding Music: Listen
I just don’t know where Rita Ora is heading with her career. She seriously puzzles me. She’s like the new Nicole Scherzinger.
Rita’s yet to define her sound, she’s sleeping on her laurels but continuing to record music that other people write for her - not making the slightest attempt to get really involved in her music - she does one good thing by getting Calvin Harris to be her boyfriend and produce cool songs like “I Will Never Let You Down” for her, but then messes everything up by cheating on him and getting her entire second album (vastly produced by the Scottish DJ) cancelled and now she has the “balls” to give us this lame song titled “Poison” as the “official second single” from her yet-untitled “coming soon”/oft-delayed sophomore album.
I’m truthfully THIS close to force me to erase the memories of “Rita Ora” from my mind for good; just like I did with Nicole Scherzinger – why? 'cause the Hawaiian chanteuse is just unable to (update:) HITS anymore and her entire music career is just dead. And not Estelle dead. MJ dead.

Rita’s new single “Poison” went for adds on UK radio today (May 18) and it will be available on iTunes there later this month – the rest of Europe can get it on the Apple digital music store and stream it on Spotify right now, though.
The song – about giving a boy the title of “Mr. Right” in Kesha’s “Your Love Is My Drug” fashion - is slow, boring and it’s giving me serious 2002/demo vibes. I do admit I kind of like the melody in the pre-chorus but that’s about it. “Poison” would be a perfect ALBUM track but an OFFICIAL SINGLE? No, no.
This will undoubtedly miss the #1 in the UK, it evidently won’t be officially released in the US, Jay-Z is going to begging getting worried about Rita’s career, there are high probabilities the sales of Rita’s second album will decrease in comparison to her debut and there are even higher probabilities that although she keeps on releasing albums via major labels she will become a musical “ghost” a la Nicole Scherzinger in the sense ‘she’s there’, but nobody cares about her.
Is there any solution? Yeah. Rita needs to scrap all the crappy non-Calvin Harris music she recorded after she broke up with him, go to India or somewhere to find some divine inspiration or just get some fresh air and start recording REAL, from the heart, music or finding her niche sound. PLEASE!
