Rebecca Ferguson Releases Outstanding "Get Happy" Cover As New single: Listen!
Before Pharrell’s “Happy” there was “Get Happy”, Harold Arlen’s 1930 composition popularized years after by Frank Sinatra and Judy Garland. Now X Factor UK's alum Rebecca Ferguson is taking a shot at it and releasing her personal cover as the lead single from her forthcoming third studio album "Lady Sings the Blues” due in stores in Britain on March 9 via RCA Records UK.
You figured it out correctly! This is going to be a covers album. Yey!? I've got mixed feelings about this. I know Simon Cowell is making Rebecca pay for the failure of "Freedom" by making her release a covers album instead of one full of originals (she deserves better) but on the other hand I'm feeling kind of excited because I know Rebecca's voice was born to sing classic-sounding songs like the ones she'll be covering in "Lady Sings the Blues”. So I don’t know. Maybe she has to see it this way: if this covers album sells well then her next one can totally be an original.
“Get Happy” song review
Premiered recently on Paul O’Grady’s BBC Radio 1 show, Rebecca Ferguson’s rendition of “Get Happy” is just goosebumps worthy! Those soulful vocals God gave her combined with that lively vintage jazzy production; it all makes an incredible beautiful thing. Fingers crossed "Lady Sings the Blues” turns into Rebecca’s “Cheek 2 Cheek”.
