Preview: Taylor Swift - "Welcome to New York" [30 Second Snippet]
Taylor Swift just uploaded a preview of a new song titled "Welcome to New York" on her personal YouTube page this Monday morning (Oct. 20). The uplifting pop record will appear on Taylor's upcoming fifth album "1989" and will be released on iTunes at midnight today. It will serve as the second "countdown single" from the "1989" era after last week's "Out of the Woods" - a song allegedly about Harry Styles.
Listen to the 30 second snippet of "Welcome to New York" below and make sure to check too the exclusive video, also posted by Taylor on YouTube this morning, where she explains about the origin of the song. Basically, she says that "Welcome to New York" was inspired by her moving to the big city (from L.A). It was a dream of her to live in the Big Apple and she was so excited to have made that dream come true recently.
"Welcome to New York" snippet review
During the explanatory video below Taylor also confirmed that "Welcome to New York" will be the opener on "1989" and I only have one thing to say: what a terrific opener! "Welcome to New York" sounds so good and it's definitely a bop. Usually I wait for the full versions of songs to make a final judgement, but from this 30-second preview I already know I'm going to love "Welcome to New York". Boys and girls, we have a new NYC anthem!! Move aside Alicia Keys and "Empire State of Mind"!!
