Nick Carter Performs On 'Lopez Tonight'
Nick Carter of the Backstreet Boys visited last Thursday 'Lopez Tonight' to plug the upcoming US release of his second solo album "I'm Taking Off" - The 11-song set, which first hit stores in Japan back in February, and debuted at #8, has as its lead single the cheesy love ballad "Just One Kiss". The song managed to peak at #12 on Japan's Hot 100 chart, which is very good considering the song is average/almost annoying.
In the end, his record label has given Nick's second solo project the green light to hit the American music market. The album will be released there on May 24th. The lead single will be the same for the United States, that is, "Just One Kiss", and Nick has already began its promotion. First TV performance took place on TBS' show 'Lopez Tonight' this week. Solid performance, vocals were good! You can tell Nick's a pro in this field already. Shame the song is BLAH.
I wonder what is Jive Records expectations with "I'm Taking Off". If it debuts within the Top 50 it'll be a miracle. As for the lead single, I doubt it charts on the Hot 100. I say Nick focuses on the Backsteet Boys and that's it. The boyband will kick-off a collaborative tour with New Kids on the Block this summer.
