NEW! The Fray - "Hurricane" [Audio + Review]
Rock band The Fray dropped today (January 14th) a new song from their upcoming fourth album "Helios", due in stores on February 24th (Epic). This is "Hurricane". Track #5 on the album. It has been chosen as the first iTunes Countdown single from "Helios". Thus far, the only song we had heard from The Fray's new studio project was the first single, "Love Don't Die", which unfortunately didn't become the hit many were expecting to.
"Hurricane" is a good song! I really the structure of it (the same with "Love Don't Die"), the production, and of course, frontman Isaac Slade's vocals. He sings so good. I like the way he stretches the last syllables of some lyrics when singing.
Some fans, though, are not that fond of The Fray's "new sound" they're bringing on "Helios", and that it's showing in their new songs "Love Don't Die" and "Hurricane".
I personally don't hear "such" difference. Maybe the productions are different; the new ones are more loud, and rock and roll, while their past material was rock too, but a bit more soft. Or, it could be that they're not bringing the same radio-friendly melodies "How To Save A Life" or "You Found Me" had in its choruses? But I still think the The Fray sound is in here. This is the group growing up too. You can't make "evolution" not happen.
