New Song: The Wanted - 'We Own the Night'

British boyband The Wanted unveiled on Monday (August 5) their new single "We Own The Night", the second official cut lifted from their upcoming third studio album entitled "Word of Mouth", scheduled for release on September 16th. The Wanted's "We Own The Night" was simultaneously premiered in the US and the UK; on 'On Air With Ryan Secreast' , and on Capital FM, respectively. The single hits iTunes on August 11.

Miles, and kilometers better than "Walks Like Rihanna", but sadly "We Own The Night" isn't giving me 'worldwide smash hit' teas a la "Glad You Came". The Wanted haven't got a #1 hit in the UK since "Glad You Came" in the summer of 2011, since the follow-ups "Chasing the Sun", "I Found You" and "Walks Like Rihanna" all missed the top spots. And I think "We Own The Night" will share the same fate. It ain't a bad track, but I feel like The Wanted are lost, or producers aren't too involved with them or management ain't doing their job guiding their career, and are unable to record a certified monster hit again.

"We Own The Night" is an anthemic pop-folk track, with lots of joint chanting, and a pretty nice melody. Although I'm not too fond of the rhyming of 'tonight we own the night'. The Wanted's new single may strikes as a nice song for the summer, but as I said above, I don't see "#1" in its future. Oh, and everytime I repeated "We Own The Night" I couldn't help to think of another song; this year's Eurovision Song Contest winner Emmelie De Forest's "Only Teardrops". Now that's a pop-folky song I truly love.

Hit or Miss?
