New Song: The Saturdays - 'Gentleman'
A full day ahead of its official radio premiere (set at 7:45am on Thursday, May 9 on BBC Radio 1), The Saturdays' brand new single "Gentleman" has leaked online. This will become the ladies' first release after their first #1 UK single "What About Us". Will they keep the momentum with "Gentleman"?. Click 'play' below, and you be the judge!
My opinion?. I'm afraid they won't!. "Gentleman" is cute, but very lucklaster. The lyrics, vocals and production are a no-no for me. The Sats' new single hears all five members complaining about how difficult is to find a gentleman to date in current days. They do have some potential candidates though...as The Sats name-check the likes of; Kanye West, Barack Obama, The Jonas Brothers, Drake, or Denzel Washington thoughout the song. LOL. I just can't. By the way, what's up with the sudden change of genre?. The Saturdays should stay in the dance, or pure-pop zone, not this jazzy-R&B-ish thing. "What About Us" was a hit 'cause it was a TUNE (kind of very 'generic' but whatever). It was dancey, and fun. Yet, "Gentleman", although it may have some 'moments', it's not very strong for second single. Correction, it's not even single material. Album bonus track, b-side maybe?. Anyway, once "Gentleman" flops on the charts in the UK, I'm sure it won't take long for The Saturdays to give us another upbeat, radio-friendly pop smash.
