New Music: You+Me - "Break the Cycle" [Premiere]
Will momma Moore love this song? You+Me’s debut album “Rose ave.” is unexpectedly shaping up to be one of the best albums of 2014. Pink and Dallas Green (City and Colour) announced earlier this month that they were creating a new musical duo and that their first album would be dropping on October 14th on RCA Records.
The lead single “You and Me” was premiered the same day the duo composition announcement was made.
Today, September 22nd, the Huffington Post exclusively premiered a new song from “Rose ave.”. It's track no. 8 on the tracklisting, "Break the Cycle". On the newly-premiered, Pink told HP: "We were at the bar talking and I really wanted to write a song about my mom”. "It didn’t turn out to be quite the love song I thought it would be, but it’s very honest and came out to be so much more". “The words of the chorus is the loving, nurturing part”. "I did not expect this song to turn out the way it did and it’s so good”.
Perhaps this isn’t the song Pink’s mom was expecting from her daughter, but "Break the Cycle" is nevertheless a beautiful, heartfelt and honest ballad. Pink and Dallas do a good job in the “vocals” department. This time Pink completely overshadows Dallas, though. So how to sum up "Break the Cycle"? VIOLINS AND MELODY! VIOLINS AND MELODY! I’m shocked at how good this is. Can it be the next single, please?
