“Welcome to New York” is the opening track from Taylor Swift’s fifth studio album (and first full pop one) "1989", due in stores on October 27. The song is the second "countdown single" after last week's "Out of the Woods". The uplifting song is inspired by Taylor’s recent move from Los Angeles to New York City. On Monday morning (Oct. 20), Taylor previewed the anthemic pop song on YouTube, and is set to release it on iTunes at midnight.
