New Music: Taylor Swift - "Shake It Off" [World Premiere]
Just like she did two years ago when she hosted a YouTube live session where she announced the "Red" era, Taylor Swift has repeated the same "announcing" formula this year to kick-off this way her fifth album era. The country-pop princess held a Yahoo! Live Stream - which all fans across the world were welcomed to watch (no dumb U.S restriction) - on August 18th at 5 p.m (ET) to announce the title and release date of her forthcoming fifth studio album, as well as to debut the first single from that project.
"Shake It Off" single review
The song is called "Shake It Off", and unlike Taylor's previous first singles, it isn't a proper love song, but more of an empowering, upbeat, fun and poppy anthem that all people without exception can relate to. Radios will definitely eat this up in no time considering its radio-friendliness, the fact that it isn't country music (although Taylor will always be considered a country singer), its catchiness, and the irresistible horn melody which carries along the entire song. Also, very important to highlight are the lyrics of "Shake It Off" where Taylor even pokes a little fun at herself speaking of her many previous relationships. [Read more here]
The fifth Taylor Swift album is officially titled "1989" (the year she was born), it's officially Taylor's first full POP album and it'll be released on October 27 via Big Machine Records.
