New Music: Melody Thornton - 'Lipstick & Guilt'
I admire Melody Thornton, she's such a persistent woman! The former 'Doll' star, and Nicole Scherzinger's archenemy (hello, this video won't ever be erased off my mind) is still pursuing her dream of 'making it' as a solo act - Yey? She may have flopped hard with her so-called 'debut single', Sweet Vendetta - which Melody released in the summer of 2011 - but that ain't bugging the almost-30 girl from Phoenix, Arizona, 'cause she is now ready to give fans, and the world if you will, a full 'music' project. Ms Thornton will drop next March 15th her first mixtape ever, titled "P.O.Y.B.L.". The set is preceded by the first single, 'Lipstick & Guilt', which you can listen to above. (free to download too in the Soundcloud embed.)
I like the 'No Church in the Wild' sample. And I'm happy to witness Melody's improvement on controlling her 'instrument'. Certainly, her vocals are raw, and powerful. I still can't believe how much underestimated she was in the 'Pussycat Dolls' days. Anyhow, 'Lipstick & Guilt' is a nice track, love the dark atmosphere and it was interesting to see how Melody expressed her thoughts about the 'music industry' in the lyrics. FYI: If this song gives you Christina Aguilera teas, especially due to Melody's vocals, it's OK.
Are you excited for Melody's upcoming mixtape?
