New Music: Kiesza - "Losin' My Mind" [Audio / Review]
This might be the last iTunes Countdown Single from Kiesza’s debut album “Sound of a Woman” so make sure to cherish it. The Canadian singer has just premiered the official audio of her song “Losin’ My Mind” (featuring rapper Mick Jenkins) on VEVO and she’s also made it available for purchase on iTunes. You can buy the song individually, or get it for free if you pre-order “Sound of a Woman”. So it’s your choice.
“Losin’ My Mind” song review
Kiesza brings 90's R&B back with “Losin’ My Mind”. She did the same with the previous iTunes Countdown Single “Bad Thing". As I said before, I think Kiesza truly shines when she sticks to her signature sound, that is, deep-house music, but I just can't say these R&B songs of hers are bad. She’s one terrific singer, and she just blasts us with her crystal vocals whether it’s deep-house or R&B songs. I do think I love Kiesza more in deep-house, though. Whenever I think of Kiesza, I immediately think of that genre, and that’s really one of the reasons she's gotten so famous. It's because no one was doing deep-house music anymore (in the way she does it) and that's really made her stood out. I don't mind her testing the waters of R&B - because her vocals evidently also suit that style - but I hope “Sound of a Woman” is more about deep-house.
In “Losin’ My Mind”, Kiesza sings of a man she’s deeply fell in love with. At one point she says that they should cut to the chase and starting making love. "I won't quit till you're touching / And you're sending my body to grace”, sings the "Hideaway" star. This is a steamy R&B tune indeed!
