New Music: JLS - 'Hottest Girl In The World'

British boyband JLS' new single "Hottest Girl In The World", from their upcoming fourth album "Evolution", received its radio premiere on BBC Radio 1 on Thursday (September 6th)...Listen above!

Produced by Bangladesh (Beyonce's "Diva", Rihanna's "Cockiness"), "Hottest" sees a departure from JLS' comfortable pop sound, to test the waters of a more 'mature', urban sound. Add a lot of bass, a funky guitar-based beat, and the lads in falsetto mode, and there you have "Hottest Girl In The World". I'm sure once you've heard the track in full you'll agree with me by saying it's very Justin Timberlake-ish. I like the chorus, it's catchy, but as a whole JLS' new single doesn't scream #1 hit to me. It's not that exciting.

However, it'll be fun to see how JLS' fans react to the new single, and their upcoming album. I fear that with the One Direction-mania taking over the UK, JLS' sales and fan support will struggle hugely, as I believe a great percentage of their fans have gone 1D. I'd bet "Hottest" will miss the top spot on the UK Singles Chart, and that "Evolution" will have the fame fate on the albums chart. I think we're upon the beginning of the end of JLS. Taking risks, and trying to sound 'mature', and more urban, RIGHT NOW, to me it's not the right course of action...with 1D (their enemies), and their catchy pop songs smashing on radios.

What do you think of the song?
