New Music: Danity Kane - 'Lemonade' [Premiere]
It's official now. Danity Kane are back (without D.Woods, though). They announced it last year, and have already played a handful of live gigs, but we were missing one important thing to make this 'comeback' official. A comeback single! Danity Kane premiered the much-anticipated lead single from the now-quartet's upcoming third studio album via SoundCloud on Wednesday night (May 14th). It's titled 'Lemonade', it features rapper Tyga and it is produced by the Stereotypes who also did 'Damaged' for DK years ago.
'Lemonade' is R&B-urban. Should Danity Kane had chosen something with a more Top 40 appeal as first single? We think that! Although 'Lemonade' is solid track, we don't feel it sounds like a bona-fide multi-format smash, nor the 'comeback' single everyone was expecting from Danity Kane. Where is our 'Showstopper' / 'Damaged' 2.0?
In 'Lemonade', Danity Kane show off their incredible harmonies and matured vocals. They direct their weapons towards their haters in this one. "These haters got a sour look upon their bass, lemonade lemonade", sing DK in the hook. Uh-huh, those haters just got served shady lemonade by Danity Kane and they don't even know! (More info)
The chorus is really good, but man, we needed something more radio-friendly!
