New Music: Cobra Starship (feat. Icona Pop) - "Never Been In Love" [Premiere]
Cobra Starship are back. The American dance/rock band released on Sunday, August 24, the official lyric video of their brand new single “Never Been In Love” – featuring Icona Pop – on YouTube, as well as making it available for purchase on iTunes. This is Cobra Starship’s long-awaited return to the music scene after dropping their last album “Night Shades” in 2011. That last LP by the DCD2 Records / Fueled By Ramen-signed band performed horribly on the charts, selling almost nothing, but it did, ironically, spawn the worldwide smash hit “You Make Me Feel” (feat. Sabi). After a few years of hiatus, Cobra Starship is now reunited and back in action. They plan on releasing a new album in the coming months – and they hope to sell more than 9,000 copies in its first week this time around – but if things go wrong again, they are praying (although I don’t think they need to because this sounds like a bona-fide smash) the lead single "Never Been In Love" matches the success of “You Make Me Feel” at the least.

Not a “You Make Me Feel”, nor it has its infectious EDM vibe, but "Never Been In Love" still is a GREAT party-record (with real instruments! - Cobra Starship are apparently doing the pop-rock thing this era). Very groovy. And the Icona Pop feature is just clever. The production sounds so like them.
"Never Been In Love" is an uplifting song where Cobra's frontman Gabe Saporta and the Icona Pop girls sing about finding true love at first sight. "That stupid party talked outside / Walked to your place stayed up 'til 5 / You'd never think a random night could change your life”, sings Gabe in the song’s pre-chorus.
