New Music: Cher Lloyd - 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' (Studio)
So this is the final iTunes countdown single that will come out from Cher Lloyd's second studio album, the aptly-titled 'Sorry I'm Late'. The LP will hit stores on May 27th in the US, and a month later on July 28th in the UK. The party anthem 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' is co-written by Cher Lloyd, Marco Borrero, Johan Carlsson, Savan Kotecha and Shellback.
Cher has performed 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' in several occasions in live shows this year in the U.S but the quality of footage has been so poor, we've preferred to hold on for the studio edit.
And that studio edit was released last night (April 30th) on iTunes UK. By the way, 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' stands for 'motherf*cking party of the year'.
REVIEW: Keeping it real, when we first started listening 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' we thought to ourselves, 'ooh, this is going to be corny', but as the song progressed, we began getting 'into' it. And now we love it. 'M.F.P.O.T.Y' a bona-fide BOP. The only thing we don't like that much is that the pop/rock production is at times too strident.
As for the lyrics, Cher sings about an annoying boy who doesn't stop flirting on her in the creepiest ways. No matter what she'll still have the party of her life.
