New Music: Ashlee Simspon - 'Bat For A Heart'
After leaving us musically orphaned in 2008 after the release of her last studio album "Bittersweet World" and go dedicate herself to her first child, Bronx (born from her relationship with Peter Wentz), our beloved Ashlee Simpson formally returns in 2012 with a new single, "Bat For A Heart"...Listen above!
The song is allegedly the lead single from Ashlee's upcoming 'fourth album' but by the sound of it, it actually sounds more 'EP'-like. Why? Because I just wouldn't understand Ashlee taking this kind of risk of putting a non-commercial, non-radio-friendly song as first single of a full-length album, even if she's doing it independently nowadays. 'Bat For A Heart' is a quirky vintage indie-pop record. I'm excited by it, I'm just not completely loving it. 'Bat For A Heart' as song just doesn't go anywhere. The chorus is kind of enjoyable, but the verses are too of a let-down. I was actually hoping for the song to explode at some part but nop.
