N.E.R.D: New Album 'Nothing' In Stores Now!
Pharrell, Chad Hugo and Shay Haley aka N.E.R.D release today their fourth studio album entitled "Nothing" via Interscope Records - The eclectic trio was formed back 2001 - Pharrell and Chad were already famous for their producing team The Neptunes and they felt they were ready and the timing was perfect to take the next step. Release their first major LP. They asked friend Shay Haley to join the group and on September 28th, 2001, "In Search Of..." hit stores. The CD was certified gold in America and spawned two to Top 40 hits; "Lapdance" and "Rockstar". Two years later, in March 2004, N.E.R.D's sophomore album "Fly or Die" was released. It performed even better than the previous album, managing to peak #6 in the US and #4 in the UK. Despite "Fly or Die" had a nice run on the charts worldwide, conflicts with their record label at the time Virgin Records appeared and N.E.R.D decided to end their contract. After the second album's world tour the trio went into hiatus for four long years and in 2008 they released "Seeing Sounds", via their new home Instercope Records. That CD pretty much flopped hardcore and was quickly forgotten. Let's not talk about it much lol. As I always say an artist/group is allowed one flop album.
However, it's time N.E.R.D comeback for real. Today, November 2nd, they release their latest effort "Nothing", which includes the hits "Hot N' Fun" (featuring Nelly Furtado) and "Hypnotize You". The trio keep experimenting with different sounds and I think they've delivered a solid effort. I had my doubts at first but after listening to the entire album I was pleasently suprised!
