Nelly Is Back With New Single “Sounds Good To Me”: LISTEN
We didn’t get the memo. We didn’t know Nelly would be back this year.
The St. Louis rapper released brand new music this Friday morning. His new single is entitled “Sounds Good to Me” and it is said to be at last the official lead single from his forthcoming eighth studio album. We say “at last” because 2015’s “The Fix” nor 2016’s “Die A Happy Man” (both one-off singles) proved not to be part of any new Nelly studio album in the end. But “Sounds Good to Me” sounds like it will be. It is not a cover nor does it simply any classic. It’s all original - but we don’t know yet if it will be of the liking of hardcore Nelly fans.
“Sounds Good to Me” (a track about loving when your girl screams of pleasure) sounds like something right up Pitbull’s alley, not Nelly. Let us explain: “Sounds Good to Me” sounds very Top 40 radio-ready, it’s not hip-hop at all, sounds very poppy, very Wild West, and it gives some “Timber” vibes.
Leaving this on the side, “Sounds Good to Me” does have a somewhat fun chorus but, all in all, we are not loving. It could be a nice album track, though. But you know what? With Nelly you never know. We could review it as an okay song but become a massive hit the next day. It’s very opposite poles when it comes to Nelly’s music. His singles are either massive hits or massive flops. We’ll see how this ones goes.
