Natalia Kills Career Over? Singer Fired From 'X Factor' New Zealand After Humiliating Contestant ("You're A Laughing Stock. It's Disgusting")
What have you done, Natalia Kills? The career of the “Mirrors” singer and writer of one of the songs in Madonna’s “Rebel Heart” album is in grave danger right now. Her public image has been damaged following her nasty remarks to an “X Factor New Zealand” contestant and her dismissal from the show.
It all occurred this past weekend in the very distant land of Lorde's country of origin where Natalia and her husband, singer Willy Moon (Willy who?), are judges on the local edition of “The X Factor” talent show. After a live performance of contestant Joe Irvine on Sunday, judges had to give their thoughts. When it was the turn of Natalia, she simply went in/berserk on Joe. She humiliated him, and was completely abusive and out of line. She basically slammed him for “copying” her husband’s “signature” (and according to her “copyrighted”) style of wearing a suit and gelled-back hair on stage.
From the Daily Mail:
“'As an artist who respects creative integrity and intellectual property, I am disgusted at how much you've copied my husband”.
“From the hair to the suit, do you not have any value for respect for originality?" alluding to the fact that Moon has copyright over wearing suits and gelling his hair back”.
She added: “You're a laughing stock. It's cheesy, it's disgusting, I personally found it artistically atrocious”.
“I am embarrassed to be sitting here in your presence having to even dignify you with an answer of my opinion”.
Willy Moon backed her wife by saying:
“To me it feels just a little bit cheap and absurd. It's like Norman Bates dressing up in his mother's clothing, it feels a little creepy and I feel like you are going to stitch someone's skin to your face and then kill everybody in the audience.”
Honestly, how many artists do this “copyrighted” style? Bruno Mars, Mark Ronson, Michael Bublé, and I could go on and on and on. Natalia lost it over a stupid thing. I'm not saying she wasn't allowed to speak her mind but she could've said it in a classier way and not humiliating anyone. She’s been rightfully sacked in my opinion, and it will take a lot of time until her public image is re-built and she can move on with new music. This news has made headlines everywhere, and people are standing on the show's side.
