Nas - 'Represent' [Music Video]
To celebrate the 20th anniversary of his critically acclaimed debut album 'Illmatic, Nas has released a music video for the classic DJ Premier-produced track 'Represent'. Shot at Youtube Space in Los Angeles, the visual takes a trip down memory lane with old footage, new footage, and movie footage all mixed together.
The director for the music video was decided by a contest. The winner, Brian Katz, teamed up with Mass Appeal's Jason Goldwatch and created a first ever visual for the 20-year old track. Inspiration for the video theme comes from the soundtrack to 1920s silent film, 'The Thief of Bagdad', which is highly fitting as Premier drew the instrumental sample from that exact soundtrack.
The 20th anniversary edition of 'Illmatic' is available for purchase now. Those who buy it receive the original tracks, remixes, unreleased demos, and old freestyles all in one. As for new Nas music in 2014, he's currently working on a album but has been reluctant to give out details just yet.
