Mika - "Talk About You" [Music Video Premiere!]
Remember when I said Mika could regain his “Grace Kelly” popularity in the US with his new single “Talk About You”? Well, kind of scrap that.
The Lebanese-British singer premiered on Tuesday morning (April 28) the music video for the lead single from his upcoming fourth studio album “No Place In Heaven” (out June 15) on VEVO, and it’s so disappointing my excitement about this song is quickly dying.
“Talk About You” is so good, almost “Grace Kelly” level, that at first I thought this had potential for US success, but this music video is so bland, I’m actually thinking now that perhaps Mika isn’t made for the US market anymore. Ok, I may be over exaggerating a little but I do feel disappointed. I’m still supporting the song some, though. I hope it reaches #1 in the UK and….France.
The KT Auleta-directed “Talk About You” music video, which evidently was paid by a watch company and a car manufacturer given the shameless product placement, shows Mika trying to be cool, and dance funny as he performs the song as a handful of dancers “build” a city behind him, hold traffic signs, roll out a grey carpet for Mika to walk on, and even pretend they’re animals.
I know they wanted to do something cool, but this just doesn’t work for me.
