Miguel Covers Slaves’ “Hey”, Performs “Coffee” on BBC Live Lounge (Video)
I’m so in shock. I didn’t imagine Miguel would know British punk band Slaves!
However, a cover of their hit song “Hey” the R&B crooner performed on his “Live Lounge” appearance today (June 18) on BBC Radio 1.
Was this Miguel’s first time doing a “Live Lounge” session? I believe it was!
The American singer-songwriter has recently touched down in London to do some promo in the UK in support of his third studio album “Wildheart” that comes out in two weeks. That’s why the other song he acoustically performed on “Live Lounge” this noon (UK time) was his new album’s lead single “Coffee”.
Nevertheless, although the showstopper was supposed to be Miguel’s new single “Coffee”, my sole memory from his inaugural performance on BBC Radio 1’s “Live Lounge” will be his Slaves cover. Oh my god. I think he just improved the original.
The electric guitar, Miguel’s out of this world vocals, his level of comfort…I’m just speechless. Slayage, y’all. Just damn slayage.
