“When You’re Gone” song review
“When you're gone I miss you like I did when we were first together”, sings Queen of Hip-Hop and R&B Mary. J Blige in the chorus of her newly-premiered song that speaks of never wanting your partner to leave your side. Boasting a guitar production, “When You’re Gone” is a moving acoustic record – I’d say it’s more pop than R&B actually – that is perfectly vocally executed by Mary. 43 years of age but Mary’s vocals are still super strong! “When You’re Gone” is a pretty song, but very “album track”. This doesn’t have enough power to become a single. Honestly, I have yet to LOVE a song from “The London Sessions”. Hopefully I’ll do one of the unheard ones. The album songs are nicely produced, and Mary sings all of them really well and with much passion, but I’m just not connecting with them. Hopefully Mary hardcore fans will support “The London Sessions” when it comes out later this month and prevent Mary from having a super weak opening week.
