Here’s our “welcome to 2016” gift from sweet Marina and the Diamonds.
The Welsh songstress released a cover of Cyndi Lauper’s classic “True Colors” via YouTube yesterday December 6, and it was possibly the best music news of the entire day. Marina’s piano-driven earthy spin of “True Colors” is just exquisite from the first to the very last second. It’s all about tone, people, and Marina’s tone is just out-of-this-world amazing. She made “True Colors” her own and I even dare to stay that I like this cover a bit more than the Cyndi’s original! (oh snap!).
And it’s not only me who’s loving Marina’s rendition, even the legendary Cyndi Lauper herself is praising it.

By the way, rumor has it this cover was intended for a reissue of “Froot” that unfortunately wasn’t approved by her record label in the end.
