Listen: Loreen Releases New Single "Paper Light (Higher)" As Eurovision 2015 Nears
You know that when a new edition of the Eurovision Song Contest approaches, new Loreen music is bound to get released. And 2015 isn’t an exception.
The singer who made Sweden won Eurovision back in 2012 with "Euphoria" releases digitally today a brand new single titled "Paper Light (Higher)". The anthemic song is confirmed to be the first offering from the Loreen’s forthcoming sophomore studio album that is due in stores later in 2015 via Warner Music.
Will she be invited to perform "Paper Light (Higher)" at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest? Well, I hope so. Loreen is the best thing that has happened to the contest in decades! Having her perform live is just a blessing.
"Paper Light (Higher)" song review
I’m usually unable to hate any Loreen music but she really put me to the test with "Paper Light (Higher)". Loreen was born to make epic dance/trance/electro-pop music so it's not easy associate her voice to the style "Paper Light (Higher)" displays. In all truth, I was dying to check out Loreen’s new single - our favorite Stockholm person has hyped it A LOT – and I was really rooting to be another one of Loreen’s epic trance tracks, so imagine my surprise when I gave "Paper Light (Higher)" the first play. I mean, I think it’s cute, but I expected better. I like the verses in it, but the chorus, although it may sound unbelievable, is sort of an anti-climax for me. I just don't love it. Maybe a slaying live performance can change my mind? We'll see.
Anyhow, I pray Loreen has included a couple of “Euphoria”, “My Heart Is Refusing Me”-ish tracks on her upcoming new album, or otherwise I’ll have to get mad her.
