Lauren Jauregui Slams Dove's "Pathetic" Apology After Racist Ad
Fifth Harmony’s Lauren Jauregui used her powerful Twitter account this Monday morning to call out personal care brand Dove for their latest racist ad. Dove posted last week an ad on their Facebook page showing a black woman turning into a white woman. After a cascade of negative comments, Dove decided to remove the ad. The ad basically showed a black woman removing her top to reveal a white woman underneath allegedly after using a Dove body lotion.
Here’s Dove’s apology statement:
An image we recently posted on Facebook missed the mark in representing women of color thoughtfully. We deeply regret the offense it caused.

Here’s Lauren calling Dove out:
I wanna know what it was SUPPOSED to do for women of color though. It was purely racist. There's no debate and this is a pathetic apology. https://t.co/iM7MOAEToi

And here’s the removed racist ad, in case you missed it:

Lauren is known for her public defense of women's rights and her battle against racism. We had no doubt she would speak about this Dove incident sooner or later.
As of this post, Lauren is currently in Mexico with the rest of Fifth Harmony where they will close out the group’s Latin American tour in support of their third studio album.
