Kesha Lets Us Know That "Here Comes The Change": Song Premiere
Kesha has contributed to the soundtrack of the upcoming film On the Basis of Sex with a song called Here Comes The Change. To give you some background about what inspired the lyrics of this song (it’s a ballad) read what the story of the movie is about first: “The film follows young lawyer Ruth Bader Ginsburg as she teams with her husband Marty to bring a groundbreaking case before the U.S. Supreme Court and overturn a century of sex discrimination”. The film stars Felicity Jones (love her) and opens in theaters on December 25.
About Here Comes The Change, Kesha had to say this:
“I was inspired. It was amazing to see Ginsburg’s story of leading a campaign that successfully changed laws that discriminated against Americans purely on the basis of their sex, as the film title suggests. In watching the film I was struck by how much Ginsburg was able to accomplish in her life, and at the same time, how much more there is to do in the fight for equality for all people. It reminded me of — and strengthened — my belief that any single person can make lasting change, starting with one small action. I wanted to do what I could to pay tribute to Ginsburg, who has spent a lifetime fighting tirelessly for equality, with no signs of slowing down. I wanted to make my voice heard, too.”
The lyrics are very touching, Kesha’s vocals sound so vulnerable it helps convey the message of the song better, I definitely enjoyed the song way more knowing what inspired it beforehand, Kesha is the queen of ballads as of lately, and all in all this is worth giving it a full tranquil listen.
