Katy B - "Crying For No Reason" (Music Video)
British singer Katy B releases a new single from her upcoming sophomore album "Little Red", in stores on February 3rd. "Crying For No Reason" is the chosen one. The song is a powerful ballad with both a rousing production, and moving, raw vocals by Katy B. Still, this doesn't exactly sound like a chart (and radio) smash. And that's what's worrying me. I have the fear Sony/Columbia may drop Katy B if "Little Red" and its singles flop. And that would be simply terrible given Katy B is an incredibly talented singer-songwriter.
The first two "Little Red" singles; "What Love Is Made Of" and "5AM" didn't really connect for some reason with the UK audience only reaching the #21 and #14 peak positions, respectively, on their debut weeks. Will "Crying For No Reason" improve things? Although I find the song quite stunning, I don't think UK radios will be much exicted to play it. I'm not asking Katy B to go fully mainstream to save her career and record deal, but at least she can record a "Lights On" 2.0 to get back on the successful track.
As for the "Crying For No Reason" MV, it's a very simple visual but Katy B's conveying emotion and light effects make it work for good. I would have had Katy B wear a more stunning outfit though, and not just leather leggins and a red jumper.
