John Mayer Releases Studio Version of Beyoncé's 'XO' Cover: Listen
Remember when John Mayer performed an awesome live cover of Beyoncé's 'XO' at one his Australian concerts last April? Well,
apparently John is still a lover of the Ryan Tedder-produced ballad (which
sparked controversy earlier this year due to its intro), because he’s now – one
month later – released a studio version of his personal cover.
Now that he’s released a proper studio version
of his ‘XO’ cover he must be paying Bey and the creators of the song the
corresponding royalties, right? If King B is getting her coins, then we are more
than approving this John Mayer release!
How did the studio and live versions differ? Well, not that much really. John performed ‘XO’ acoustically in Australia, with him and a just a guitar on hand, and he’s replicating that in the studio version. The only difference really is that we can hear John's vocals better. Because he is sounding the same! Amazing, huh? Not many artists can boast about sounding live the same as in their studio works. Oh my, John's vocals are so sultry. Someone needs to send this cover to Bee's camp ASAP.
