Benny Benassi (feat. John Legend) - 'Dance the Pain Away' (Music Video)
What a strange partnership this is! Benny Benassi - the brilliant Italian DJ who gave us one of the greatest dance songs in history, "Beautiful People" - has recruited soulful crooner John Legend to sing the vocals on his new single "Dance the Pain Away". The studio edit of the song was released just mere days ago, and now Benassi unleashes the official video for the moody dance track via his label Ultra Records' YouTube page.
I like Benassi, but this has to be one of his weakeast singles ever. John's vocals are absolutely brilliant - the lyrics are a bit cheesy but whatever - but the problem here is that his soulful vocals just don't really blend well with Benassi's super mega dance beat. It feels and sounds awkward. My ears and mind cannot help but to reject this song. As for its recently-unveiled MV, it's a yawn-fest. The black-and-white visual features of scenes of John singing "Dance the Pain Away" at the beach, a beautiful girl enticing the camera, again at the beach, and DJ Benassi showing off his classic Porsche 550 Spyder driving it around on L.A's Pacific Coast Highway.
