James Corden Shades The Wanted: “They Only Have 7 Fans”, Reveals Band Was Turned Down For "Carpool Karaoke"

Remember The Wanted?

They were a British male band who were really popular in 2011 when their single “Glad You Came” was a big hit in the UK (#1) and in the U.S (#3). The band eventually disbanded around 2014 when their last album together 2013’s “Word of Mouth” performed poorly (I swear their song “Walks Like Rihanna” is in my hall of fame of worst songs ever). But hey, they did have a good run. It’s just that for whatever reason they didn’t know how to keep up with the momentum. Member Nathan Sykes, Ariana Grande’s ex, went solo after The Wanted disbanded and his debut album “Unfinished Business” was released last year in the UK (check out “Kiss Me Quick”. That was a cool song).

Anyway, back to the present day, last night during Katy Perry’s “Witness Live Stream Experience” – for those of you that don’t know, Katy has been for the past three days been imprisoned in a Big Brother kind of house where fans have been able to “witness” how she really is. All in an attempt to bring more attention for her newly-released album “Witness”. She has been doing yoga, going to therapy, having dinner with famous friends, doing Q&A, doing performances, etc. We’ve even been able to see how she sleeps. I told you, very Big Brother. And last night, during a “Spill Your Guts or Fill Your Guts” segment with James Corden, Katy asked James a question that in my honest opinion he should have dodged by eating some “guts”. The answer was very hurtful.

Katy asked James; “Who have asked you to do Carpool that you’ve turned down?".

James answered, “The Wanted”.

Then when Katy told James that all of the fans of The Wanted were going to hate on him and most likely troll him on social media, James answered back by saying: “OK, I’ll happily meet all 7 of them”.

Ouch.

So The Wanted have just been humiliated by everybody knowing now that they’re one of the acts that James Corden turned down for a “Carpool Karaoke” taping, most likely he didn’t think they were worthy, and they’ve implicitly been called “losers”, “not popular”, and “flops” by James Corden after he said their fandom was of approximately seven fans.

But there’s something that doesn’t add up. “Carpool Karaoke” as we know it started in 2015, and The Wanted disbanded in 2014. So how exactly could he turn them down? My only explanation is that either The Wanted were trying to pull a comeback at some point, they scouted TV shows that would promote their comeback, but eventually that comeback didn’t come to fruition, or James was actually referring to The Wanted member Nathan Sykes, who currently still has a music career, and has been in the U.S promoting his work.

But in the end, shame on James Corden for shading and exposing The Wanted like this. They’re even British. Just like him. Is that how fellow country men have each others back?
